The SACT Car Club has been established thanks to funding from the Scottish Power Energy Network’s Green Economy Fund. So there is now a brand-new Community Car Club in the KA8 area.
SACT was been awarded funding to buy two electric cars which have been available for hire through the Car Club since August 2019. The project is in direct response to the findings of the Tandem Report which called for smaller, lower cost vehicles for hire which didn’t have any license restrictions.
The lower running costs of electric vehicles mean that the cars (ordinary driving license only required) are hired out at a significantly lower cost than a standard petrol or diesel car putting them within the reach of most budgets. And of course, there are all the added benefits of lower air and noise pollution. If you need a car to take a relative, friend, or yourself to a hospital or GP appointment, to a community group, to a job interview, to a meeting or just even out for a wee trip somewhere and public transport isn’t an option, we should be able to help you.
